Hi! I'm 68 years old and woke up this morning with the first few words of this song on my mind. Thanks to the wonders of modern technology and You Tube I was able to look up this song and play it a few times, seeing that I was never familiar with all the words. Of course I was only eight when this song came out yet so many years later it has left an impression. Truly a touching song of young love. It will be part of my summer song list for 2024. I’ve always loved Tom Jones, especially his TV show … mainly because he/it saved my roommates life! We were watching TV and when that show ended, she stood up and said “guess I should get ready for my date tonite; time to shower!” … and then the Tom Jones Variety Show came on and she sat down, saying I guess it can wait a few minutes. A couple of minutes later, we heard a loud bang … a neighbor, backing out of his garage hit the gas instead of the brake and drove thru my roommates bathroom wall … the marble vanity was pushed through the shower. I keep saying, if she had been in the shower, she would have been de-waist-apated! So, thank you Tom Jones and your variety show!
